Mahmoodis Foundation

A foundation should write to you the way a trustee writes to a family.

To whoever finds this page —

The Mahmoodis Foundation is a family charitable foundation now being formed. Before asking anyone to care about it, we owe you a plain statement of what it is: a vehicle for steady, local, verifiable giving, run with the caution of a family trust and accounted for in writing, every year, in language anyone can read.

We are not announcing programs we haven't built or results we haven't earned. What we can announce is intent, and a standard: when this foundation makes its first grant, you will be able to read what was given, to what kind of need, and what we learned — in an annual letter published on this page.

Formation takes time done properly. Registration, governance, and accounting come first; the giving follows. If that order seems slow, it is also the reason you'll be able to trust the letters.

With patience and intent,
The Mahmoodi family

Commitments

What we intend to fund, stated before we fund it.

Three areas, chosen because the family knows them firsthand and because each can be helped by modest, consistent sums.

Planned giving areas and their current status
AreaWhat it means in practiceStatus
EducationKeeping students in school. Fees, books, exam costs, and transport for students in a hard season — arranged through schools, not spectacle. In design
Hardship reliefBridging a bad month. Groceries, utilities, and rent gaps for households between jobs or after a medical shock, verified through caseworkers. In design
Community institutionsQuiet infrastructure. Small grants to the pantries, clinics, and weekend schools that already carry their neighborhoods. In design

Statuses will change on this page as each program moves from design to operating. We will not mark anything "operating" before it is.

Stewardship

The discipline comes before the money.

  • Written before spent.

Every grant category gets a written policy — eligibility, verification, limits — before the first grant in it is made.

  • Two signatures, always.

No single family member can move foundation funds alone. Boring by design.

  • Recipients stay private.

We publish categories and amounts, never names or faces. Dignity isn't negotiable for a photograph.

  • Accounted annually.

One letter a year: funds in, grants out, costs, mistakes included. If a program failed, the letter says so.

The annual letter

One honest letter a year beats a glossy report.

Most charity reporting is marketing. Ours will be correspondence: what we gave, where it went by category, what it cost to run, and what we got wrong. Written by the family, not an agency.

Here is the shape each year's letter will take — shown as a template, since the first year hasn't been lived yet:

Letter to our community — Year one

Funds received; grants made by category; operating costs (covered by the family); what we learned; what changes next year.

Template — the first real letter will be published here after the foundation's first operating year.

Stay informed

Ask for the first letter. That's all this form does.

The foundation is not accepting donations during formation, and this site asks for none. If you'd like the first annual letter, and word when giving opens, leave a name below.

We will write rarely and plainly.

Sign-ups are not yet live. This form transmits nothing — whatever you type stays in your browser.
